Take in the artisan winery in the Chianti countryside, where you will learn how they take grapes from vine to wine. Sit back and enjoy the panoramic views in the seaside fishing villages of the Cinque Terre. With this tour, you will get an experience of true Italian life that you would miss out on if you just visited the city.
You are welcomed to Italy, where you will be introduced to your private driver who will transfer you to your hotel in the center of Rome. Your tour host will meet with you in the late afternoon, where you will be told about your tour and get to know the companions that you will be travelling with. After this welcome meeting, you will enjoy a delicious dinner in the restaurant and then stay overnight in Rome.
Following a hearty breakfast, you will be taken on an exclusive tour of the Vatican Museum, where you will get easy access with your skip the line passes. Your tour guide has drafted a route that will include all of the main attractions, plus some unexpected surprises to make the visit truly unforgettable.
Take in the Belvedere Courtyard with Apollo Belvedere & Laocoön & His Sons, Raphael Rooms, the Galleries of the Candelabra, of the Maps and of the Tapestries, the Sistine Chapel and the Pinecone Courtyard. Finish off by exiting onto the St. Peter’s Square and appreciate the incredible view of the overlooking Cathedral. Returning to your hotel, you will rest after a packed morning itinerary.
Late afternoon, you will reconnect with your tour guide for a excursion on foot where you will experience the Baroque Town with Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Piazza di Spagna, the Italian Parliament and the interesting winding streets of ancient Rome. Your tour guide will return you to your hotel if you wish, or you can continue to explore the city on your own before returning to stay overnight in your hotel.
The third day is free time for you to experience the city at your leisure. We have designed this experience to give the very best of each city that you visit, but also allow enough free time so that you can tailor your trip to your needs and be able to relax.
There is so much for you to choose from within the city, but we suggest an exploration of the Imperial Rome via the Colosseum and Forum. Visit one of the most divine art collections in Europe at the Palazzo Borghese or take a trip to the neighbouring Tivoli where you can see the astonishing Villa Hadriana, built by the Emperor Hadrian and Villa d’Este, a true wonder of Italian gardening. Some visitors choose instead to take the new high speed train to visit Capri or Pompeii, or to enjoy a wine tour in the Viterbo area.
You will finish your day by staying overnight in Rome.
After your tour host meets you in your hotel in Rome, your journey continues on to Tuscany. You will start by heading to Florence, which you will reach by late afternoon after a stop along the way in Siena. The journey is a wonderful chance to sample the stunning Tuscan hills, the sights of the quaint, enchanting villages, as well as the castles and vineyards scattered across the region.
Historically, the city of Siena was the only city that could even compare to Florence in terms of power, wealth and artistic creations.
When you arrive in Siena, you will be treated to a luxurious food and wine experience in the heart of the old town. Next, you will have an opportunity to discover the Piazza del Campo, which is the famous central square where the Palio horse race is held every year. You can explore the quieter backstreets of Siena and learn all about the Contrade, which are the seventeen medieval city areas that were in competition against each other in the Palio.
Continue to Florence and overnight in town.
You will begin this day by exploring Florence from the undiscovered, more picturesque parts of the city. Take in the market of San Lorenzo, where you will see crates of food being brought in from the Tuscan countryside. You will get an opportunity to sample lots of varieties of local fruits, cheeses, vegetables, and breads, but if you are still hungry after all of that, there is some free time for a spot of lunch.
You will meet your guide back in the hotel in the afternoon and prepare to go on a journey around the heart of the town. Florence was transformed into the cradle of the Renaissance by Lorenzo de Medici, who attracted the very best artists, writers and architects of the time. He commissioned the likes of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Botticelli to create many works of art and architecture. See the stunning Piazza della Signoria, walk along the Palazzo Vecchio and see the famous Duomo with Giotto’s bell tower from the outside on Ponte Vecchio.
The journey through Florence will finish with a trip to the Accademia to appreciate the countless masterpieces on display there, including Michelangelo’s treasure, the statue of David. Stay overnight in Florence.
A spectacular area of Italy awaits today as you visit the Cinqueterre, which is well-known for its food, wine, glorious sea and hiking activities. After an early morning start, you will leave Florence with your guide and start driving to the North West Riviera in a comfy, air-conditioned minivan. The journey will provide you with spectacular views of the Tuscan Hills which stretch along until the Southern point of the Alps that separate Tuscany from Liguria.
As you arrive in the Cinque Terre National Park, you will be able to enjoy the stunning views from land and sea, as you travel along the national park by train, boat and by foot on the cliff trails. You will be provided with a full, delicious lunch and wine tasting experience in a local restaurant overlooking the sea. Here you will sample fresh, tasty seafood all prepared the Ligurian way and accompanied by some great white wines typical of this region. You will return to Florence in the late afternoon, where you will stay overnight.
Starting the day with a morning of leisure after your long day of travelling, you have some free time to relax and explore the city some more.
In the afternoon, your tour guide will pick you up in a comfortable minivan to start your Chianti experience. It will take about twenty five minutes to shuttle you to the rolling hills of the Chianti Wine Region where you will arrive at a noble Villa complete with a Boutique Winery atop a beautiful hill. The marvellous landscape of stretching vineyards and olive groves surround you as you take in the peace and quiet.
A wine expert will greet you at the villa and give you a tour of the five hundred year old wine cellar, which is still used today for a small, bespoke wine production and ageing. This wine production is included in the top 100 in Wine Spectator’s. You will have an opportunity to sample all of the different products in this boutique winery and learn about the refined techniques of winemaking. You will learn to differentiate between the various scents and flavors that each individual wine presents.
A charming restaurant awaits following the wine cellar tour, where you will enjoy a fine dinner and experience how the different wines can be paired with specific food dishes. There will be four different wines to try, including the famous Supertuscan of the estate and a sweet dessert wine. You will also be invited to try the region’s best olive oil, served with local unsalted Tuscan bread. Your fine dining experience will include the local charcuterie and a cheese selection, which is complimented with different jams and a balsamic vinegar. A selection of two pasta dishes and a traditional meat main course will also be offered, with a Tuscan dessert served to finish with the local sweet wine.
Taking the journey back to Florence, you will pause at the Piazzale Michelangelo belvedere to take in the magnificent view of Florence and admire the lights of the whole city, before retiring for your last night’s stay there.
You will independently transfer back to the airport to return home.
