The extraordinary 16-days tour that starts in Lithuania, through Latvia, Estonia, Finland and Russia, takes you in the very heart of Baltic Europe, with all of its rich cultural heritage, astonishing intact nature and, as a contrast, vivid and modern urban life. After arriving in Vilnius, you may choose an organized transfer to Hotel Radisson Blu Lietuva**** or similarly ranked hotel. Later, after you check-in, we will have the greet meeting.
This city is famous for its impressive architecture. What will we see there? We’ll have to choose between more than 1.200 magnificent buildings and 48 churches. All of them were built during the medieval period. Our first adventure is in the morning. It will be a panoramic tour of the town. The second is a walking tour. We will have a look at the Old Town of Vilnius and all the marvelous things that are there. First of all, there is the spectacular Peter and Paul Church, St. Anne’s Church, Vilnius Cathedral, Gediminas Tower, the Gates of Dawn, and Old University. Later, in the afternoon, it is optional to organize a visit to Trakai. It is old, medieval Lithuania’s capital. Here you can see the original Trakai Castle, which is in very good shape. The castle is the place worth visiting. It is situated on the island in Lake Galve which gives an astonishing charm and a bit of romantic experience. The evening offers you the option to taste the traditional dinner at Restaurant Belmontas. It is optional.
We want to arrive in Riga but on our journey, the first destination will be the Hill of Crosses. Catholic Lithuania doesn’t have the holiest place than this one. After seeing and revealing all the beauty of Hill of Crosses our journey will continue to Latvia. The next stop is the grandiose Rundale Palace. The palace was the whilom summer residence of the Duke of Courland. For the tour of the palace, the guide is provided. After the visit to the Rundale Palace, we will continue over the wave hillsides Of Southern Latvia to come to Riga in the late afternoon. This gorgeous city originates from 1201. The German bishop Albert founded it. Today it is the biggest of the three Baltic metropolises, rich with various and impressive styles in building architecture. We will have a walking tour of Old Town. We will visit the Dome Cathedral, the Three Brothers, St. Peter’s Church,the Swedish Gate, the Freedom Monument, the Large and Small Guilds, and the Riga Castle. In the afternoon we can optionally visit Jurmala. Jurmala is a picturesque sea resort in Latvia. We can enjoy the revelations of its sandy beach and wooden seaside villas. This day you can end up with an organ concert in Dome Cathedral. It is optional but you will have wonderful memories later if you choose it.
As we got the chance to visit Riga we also got a possibility to discover more about medieval Latvia. Take this optional chance for visiting the impressive landscape of the Gauja National Park and Sigulda, medieval town. A great legend will wait for you there. You can hear old Latvian legend of the Rose of Turaida. Also, you can visit the Castle of the Knights of the Sword and the rubbles of the Episcopal Castle. Full of intense impressions we will go back to Riga. In the afternoon, we will have the optional to visit the Motor Museum of Riga. Here we will find an outstanding collection of old timers. Maybe the most interesting is a collection of unique old Soviet limos that once were part of the Kremlin Garage. The great end of this day can be a traditional dinner in posh Restaurant Three if you choose so.
We continue our adventure traveling the coastal highway to reach Parnu, the Estonian summer resort. There we will stay for a while and have a short tour. When we see everything planned we will continue our travel over the North Estonian area of impressive forests. Our next destination is Tallinn where we will come in the early afternoon. Overnight stay at Hotel Radisson Blu Olympia**** or similarly rated hotel.
Tallinn is a fascinating combination of medieval serenity and present city life. The Old Town is very dynamic over the summer and holidays. There we will find numerous outdoor cafés and restaurants where we can take a break after visiting many galleries, shops, or souvenir and gift stores. We will be touring the medieval city walls and in the Old Town itself. We will visit medieval Old Town Hall, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Toompea Castle, Dome Church, and Great Guild Hall. The best choice for the afternoon is to visit Kadriorg Park and KUMU. This is an optional proposal that gives you the chance to enjoy the awarded Estonian Art museum, the collection of classic and modern fine art. We suggest you end this day with a medieval traditional meal at Restaurant Maikrahv.
You wouldn’t like to miss a optional tour to Lahemaa National Park. Pick it for this day. Here we will visit a memorial to the von Pahlen family known as Palmse Manor, and we will also visit Sagadi Manor. But it isn’t the end of our excursion. The next stops of our one-day excursion are the Vodka Museum and elegant Vihula Manor from the 16th century and. We will have a pause for lunch and head back to Tallinn. We will continue our journey by taking a ferry to get us from Tallinn to Helsinki through the amazing Finnish archipelago. Situated at the confluence of cultures of both the West and East we will see the verdant and energetic capital of Finland, Helsinki. The excursion around the city will take us to its harbors and the Lutheran Cathedral on Senate Square. Continuing on our way along the Mannerheim Street, we will pass the Parliament House and Finlandia Hall. Afterward, we will visit the Sibelius Monument and the very unique and world-famous Church of the Rock. In the afternoon we can embark on an optional tour to the Suomenlinna Fortress. It is one of the Finnish cultural gems that have started its life as a sea fort in the 18th century, as a sea fortress. this fort offers a unique experience to visitors. The evening is reserved for an optional traditional Finnish dinner at Restaurant Salve.
Helsinki-St. Petersburg: Our tour continues to the east toward St. Petersburg. Soon after passing the Russian border and entering the country, we will pass Vyborg and proceed to St. Petersburg where we will arrive in the late afternoon. Overnight is at Hotel Sokos Vasilievsky**** or similarly rated hotel.
This city is an astounding one. Its imperial palaces and museums are worldwide famous. The Neva River and the numerous canals crossing the city have reasonably provided the city with the glory and title of “Venice of the North.” Our first experience with the city will be the glamorous Peter-Paul Fortress, followed by St. Isaac’s Cathedral, the Winter Palace, the Nevsky Convent, the Church of the Bleeding Savior, and more unforgettable places. In the afternoon we can have an excursion to Zarskoye Selo optionally. There we will find the amazing Catherine’s Palace and the Amber Room. Unfortunately, during WW2 the amber panels disappeared. but beautiful copies were finished for St. Petersburg’s tri-centennial anniversary. The best way to end this remarkable day is an evening spent in a optional visit to the Nikolaevsky Palace. We will enjoy a breathtaking Russian folklore program, tasty food, and a Russian version of champagne.
We are still in St. Petersburg. In the morning we will visit the Peterhof complex, architectural gem of the Peter the Great’s rule. We will visit the grandiose Grand Palace and Grand Cascade. Peterhof’s attraction is also the Water Avenue, and many beautifully manicured lawns, colorful flower beds, and wood groves. In the afternoon, you can optional for a visit to the Hermitage Art Museum, a world-famous institution of fine art. Also optionally, you can get the feel of delicious meals if you visit Russian Restaurant Pryatnosti & Radosti.
Final hours of our stay in St. Petersburg you can optionally spend on an excursion around the channels. At noon, we will head for the Moscow Railway Station and embark on the Sapsan. This high-speed train will take us to the Russian capital of Moscow. The train ride takes us along the Volga River, we will enjoy the view of the magnificent landscape. At our destination, we will arrive in the late afternoon. Overnight stay is at Hotel Azimut Smolenskaya**** or similarly rated hotel.
Often called the Mother of Russia, Moscow is a picture-perfect Russian city, with the Kremlin and iconic onion-shaped domes of cathedrals. Over the past 10 years or so, it has transformed into one of the busiest metropolises areas in the world. In the morning we will embark on an excursion of the most iconic landmarks of this city. St. Basil’s Cathedral on Red Square, Bolshoi Theater on the Theater Square, Moscow University on the Sparrow Hills; are just some of them. We will also visit one of the famous Kremlin cathedrals. Afternoon you can enjoy an optional tour of the Moscow Metro, or the Circle-line. On this tour, you can see the iconic historic metro stations and have a guided walk down the iconic Arbat Street. In the evening you can, if you choose, embark on a memorable city-by-night tour of Moscow which includes a river cruise trip by the White Flotilla.
This day we can spend on an optional whole day tour of the spiritual center of the Russian Orthodox Church. Considered as the most important monastery in the whole of Russia, the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius is located in the charming town of Sergiev Posad. The beauty of this monastery is that it was fully restored for the celebration that marked 700 years since the birth of Saint Sergius of Radonezh.
